Anti-violence Construction Design Concept

This is something that I stumbled across in my dreams, the potential to prevent violence from spewing into walls and floors. A dream, if you will. As I continue my research into materials that don't harm the environment in the process of protecting the person near it from throws and slams, this part of the site will expand.

Inspired by the promise of Frutiger Aero and the realization that I have to work towards it, I dreamt that I was in my old high school, setting up a piece of wall that the school allowed me to install for testing purposes. A Basketball player, white and lanky, sees me and my hopeful face, wondering what's up. I ask him for the ball, and ram it into the wall full-force (heh). It was as per my in-house testing. Dampened impact, little recoil; concussions would not be a problem. Seeing as I had the lower portion designed, I curb-stomp it for good measure as well.

Tossing the ball back to him, he asks if I have a website. I provide an utterly fictitious one (because I haven't made that site yet). We smile, thank each other and go on our ways. It was my finest moment in my dreams.

It's shockingly and hilariously ironic how I use violence to test designs that are meant to withstand it in a civilian setting. I never was one for violence, I would have sooner scooted off to where I needed to go than stay to watch a middle school brawl for entertainment. This is an issue I saw with overly-utilitarian building design: concrete and other types of internal walls may be good for structural integrity, it can be achieved with less potential for injury, be it due to fighting or major accidents. With God as my witness I'll put my stilted efforts into making a change without violence, and pray that the day doesn't come where we reach the final option...

Who is this for? Children?

It's for everyone. I recognize that until we can be rid of the savagery we'll need some way to reduce casualties in the civilian world. Walls and floors are often used as weapons by thugs and drunkards who can't fight with their own strength and tactics. Think someone like Mad Dog from Ong Bak. One way this can be mitigated somewhat is through the use of wall inserts that contain a shock-absorption material that can slowly dampen the impact of someone being rammed into it, and that's what I'm doing my best to look into.
